How To Find The Perfect Darts For You

Are You Confused about Which Dart Set Will Meet Your Needs?

Each player will go through an iterative process of trial and error to find their ideal set-up, making this an enjoyable process! Take your time, take notes on which setups perform (or don’t) well – most importantly have fun doing it!

Finding your ideal dart should not be stressful! For that reason, Darts Corner recommends scheduling an Mission Precision session with one of our ex-professional players here at Darts Corner; but as not everyone can make it out to Bolton; watch Mission Ambassador Wayne Mardle as he provides helpful tips on selecting darts! Additionally, read below for our explanation on selecting an optimal dart!

As a beginner, we recommend starting by choosing heavier dart barrel weights (28g or higher) which will improve your chances of keeping the dart on target.

Many different barrel styles exist. When your dart slips out of your palm quickly, for instance, an abrasive barrel (such as razor grip or micro grip) should help stop its slide more quickly. Conversely, if it remains in your hand for extended periods of time and you find it hard to release or pull away easily then an easy ringed grip dart might be more appropriate.

Due to such a wide variety of barrels available on the market, we have put together an in-depth tutorial covering dart barrels, materials and darts in this article.

Finding a Dart Stem/Shaft

Dart stems and shafts usually come in four sizes (extra short, short medium, mid) with materials including nylon carbon and aluminum available as choices.

Shorter barrels require medium stems while longer ones should use shorter ones to ensure equilibrium.

Experiment and find what works for you! With such an affordable option as stems, the easiest thing may be just trying all of them out! Our try-at-home stem research packs provide an effortless way to start exploring.

Selecting a Dart Flight While most dart players opt for standard No. 2. and 6 flights, other sizes and thicknesses are also available.

Shorter and lighter flights using light darts typically perform better than thicker or larger flights with heavier darts, with the smaller and less streamlined your flight being, the faster and stronger its dart will travel.

Similar to stem tissue research, flight research packs allow you to test various approaches until finding what best meets your needs. With its multiple flights all in one convenient package, this set is an invaluable asset.

Selecting Dart Accessories

Other accessories available for darts include lock rings and flight protectors; however, novice players may wish to forgo these at first, as they may alter weight distribution and make playing more complex.
